Viewing DWF Files from within AutoCAD®
You can view, zoom and pan Drawing Web Format (.dwf ) files from within AutoCAD. DWF files are read-only versions of drawing files usually posted on internal or remote web servers. To view DWF files from within AutoCAD you must perform a Full Installation of AutoCAD. This copies new Microsoft® Internet Explorer components to your local hard disk. 

Use the SAVEAS command to create DWF files from your drawings. Post these files on your company's intranet or web server for review by associates, consultants, strategic partners or customers. 

In this lesson, you open and view DWF files on an Autodesk® web server.  You must have access to the Internet in order to complete the instructions in this lesson.

Tips
Tip: The Browse The Web dialog box is only available if you select the Full Install option during the AutoCAD installation process or have Microsoft Explorer 4.0 installed on your system.
Tip: You can enter the transfer protocol (http:// or ftp://) and the file extension (.dwg or .dwf) in the Select File dialog box.
Using AutoCAD to View a DWF File
  1. On the File menu, click Open. 
  2. In the Select File dialog box, click Search the Web to display the Browse the Web dialog box. 
  3. In the the Look In box, type http://www.autodesk.com/exercise/plan.htm and press ENTER to load the plan.htm web page from an Autodesk server. This page contains a DWF file.

Using Zoom and Pan to Explore a DWF File
  1. In the Browse the Web dialog box, scroll down to display the building image. This is a DWF file. Right-click the DWF file to display the shortcut menu, then click Zoom Rectangle. 
  2. Drag to define a window around the triangular shape in the lower-left corner of the drawing. 
  3. Right-click to display the shortcut menu, then click Pan. 
  4. Drag to pan the drawing.
Saving a DWF File to the Local Hard Disk
  1. In the Browse the Web dialog box, right-click the DWF file to display the shortcut menu, then click Save As. 
  2. In the Save As dialog box, in the File Name box, type plan
  3. Click Save to save the DWF file and to exit the Save As dialog box.
