Hi,
This is maybe slightly off this topic, but there is another problem
with the check for sed. I don't know about other non-GNU seds, but in
FreeBSD, "sed --version" simply hangs waiting for input, horribly
confusing the naïve user. "echo | sed --version" works correctly for
both BSD and GNU sed, but this does not seem to fit in the
AC_CHECK_PROG_VER macro, as it now stands.
(Of course, the user could do "echo | configure". :-)
