$ tar -xvzf glibc-2.2.5.tar.gz
$ tar -zxvf glibc-linuxthreads-2.2.5.tar.gz

$ patch -p1 < ../glibc_2.2.5-1.0.diff

$ patch -p1 < ../glibc-2.2.5-sh_dl-machine.patch

For the curious, I think those patches come from

Prabhakar, I'm trying to build glibc for sh, too, though I haven't
started using those patches yet; I'm using just the minimum
patches needed to build, and will pull in the sh-linux.org patches
if I need them to pass regression tests.
