Make glibc ((2.3.2)) hangs (in a loop) |

Hello,
I read carefully the readme and FAQ of glbc. (2.3.2)
I followed the recommendations there;
I am using the linuxthreads addon , and I am doing it in a separate folder
(differnt from where source tree).
I tried to compile the glibc-2.3.2 sources; I left it to be done at night.
The compilation enters a loop of more than 10 hours !
the makefile loops endlessly when stepping in to the bits
directory and leaving it.
I am using gcc-3.2.2-5 on RedHat 9.
I see that stdio_lim.d grows constantly in each cycle of the loop.
It grew to more than 5 MB !
I had tried stopping and starting again the make but the same happened
again.
I saw here a posting regarding a similiar problem:
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/bug-glibc/2003-11/msg00030.html
but there was no answer.
Can anybody help?
regards,
john
