Sorry for the late rely. I'm not a glibc developer, but spend some
time looking at old locale bug reports checking if they still apply or
not. :)

Both es_ES, address@hidden, ca_ES and address@hidden now uses 'EUR' as the
currency code in the version in glibc CVS. The problem you reported
appear to be fixed. :)

Probably. You could edit the locale source file and generate a new
binary locale file.
