RMAIL-summary limited to 4-digit mail numbers

In GNU Emacs 20.7.1 (sparc-sun-solaris2.8, Motif)
 of lun mar 26 2001 on orgenoy
configured using `configure  --with-x-toolkit=motif'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Well, I know I should not have as much as 10000 mails pending in my
~/RMAIL, but... :-)

It looks like many things guess that the mail number fits in 4 digits...

I've overlooked mail/rmailsum.el but it doesn't seem trivial for me to
fix...
There are 2 instances of format "%4d" but it is not enough to explain the
truncation.
