Hi,this is just to close this thread properly. I've upgraded the Cygwin DLL as suggested in the message mentioned above. I haven't seen a crash since. So, to sum it up: this was not an Emacs bug, but a Cygwin bug triggered rarely by few programs. One of them happened to be Emacs.
Thanks to all who spent some thoughts on this issue, and consider me a happy camper again.
