Good point, and if we make the change, the scaling issue should be mentioned in INSTALL. Perhaps something like the following wording:
"Although ImageMagick support is disabled by default due to security and stability concerns, you can enable it by configuring with --with-imagemagick. ImageMagick is the only backend that supports image scaling."
