Unfortunately it seems that my benchmarking approach was misleading; see my
previous reply to Alan. Sorry about that.
The patch helps a bit but not nearly enough, so for big header files like the
ones you mention in the asic_reg directory, it may not make much of a
difference.
It is obviously worthwhile, but again as Alan noted, the incremental fontifying
cost increases with distance from the start of the file (absent any actual code
other than preprocessor definitions), leading to the observed superlinear
behaviour. More robust heuristics needed.
