The Commercial Emacs long lines fix *preceded* GNU's by about six months (and I might add, did so without resorting to the blunt instrument of narrowing).
As I told you yesterday (privately), Commercial Emacs performs much worse than what is now on master with respect to that bug.
The proposer of the GNU Emacs fix even paraphrased Commercial Emacs
??? I did not even know that a proposed fix existed in "Commercial Emacs". And how could your proposed fix have been an inspiration in any way? As you yourself write two lines above you "do not resort to the blunt instrument of narrowing".
To be clear, I'm not aggrieved.
