Thanks for the bug report.

I'm at a loss to know why this is, since I can find no instance of
either get_syntax or set_cmd_syntax anywhere in the source, except
with the prefix 'settings_' .

I can only presume that you have a previous instance of a build
somewhere on your system which is interfering somehow.  Either way,
I'd like to understand exactly what's going on.
