     You could be right.  I'll skim through the commit logs before
     -rc2 then.

This release is supposed to be a bug fix release.  Part of the issue
is simply deciding when a change ceases to be a bug fix, and when it
becomes a new feature.  The distinction isn't always black and white,
so at times a judgement has to be made.
