Details:
If a syntax file contains characters that the syntax editor isn't prepared to
handle, it treats those files as if they are empty and prints this warning:
(lt-psppire:32536): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_text_buffer_emit_insert: assertion
`g_utf8_validate (text, len, NULL)' failed
To reproduce, add byte 0xa0 (non-breaking space) to a syntax file and try to
load it in PSPPIRE. It will appear empty.
