Ensuring disk space is the most basic check of the installer, but even if space is lacking it should let you know.

Can you send a screenshot? It should look something like attached.

Also, a way to get verbose information is running the installer in the Terminal, `man installer` but the basic idea is:

sudo installer -verbose -package path/to/pspp-0.8.3-0-10.9.mpkg -target /
