As you have correctly observed, after the last release, we have moved to Gtk3 and there are some
teathing problems.
I fully agree with you about the GtkSpinButton in Gtk3 - maybe we could backport the old one.
We will try to fix these before the next release.
Thank you for considering my suggestions. If not do a backport of GtkSpinButton is the most appropriate, since its purpose is to help improve interaction with touch devices. I have a tablet with an installation of fedora/gnome for testing, and usability of PSPP from version 8.5 to snapshotbuild GTK3 greatly improved.
This is another issue, but I noticed bug # 45254 closed, but in the build 0.8.5-g1a528f just a black box looks like splash screen (by less than a second?).
