Thanks a lot! I applied your patch.
The original reason that translation is broken up this way, is that I thought
that we might be able to support opening PSPP output file (.spv files) that
were produced for one language and then re-translating them to another
language, so saving the original un-translated string was necessary. I don't
know anymore whether that is realistic (mostly because of the lack of
developer time), but I appreciate that you continued along the path that would
enable that.
