Hello,
the grep manual page says,
-i, --ignore-case
Ignore case distinctions in both the pattern and
the input files.
This works for non-ASCII (Latin-1 diacritics) in the pattern but
not in the file, so a capital umlaut in the file is not found with
the -i option.
