no bug, but a question

Hi,
I want to store only files newer than DATE with 'gtar'.
I don't know how I have to use -N option.

  -N, --newer=DATE             only store files newer than DATE
      --newer-mtime            compare date and time when data changed only
      --after-date=DATE        same as -N
      --backup[=CONTROL]       backup before removal, choose version control
      --suffix=SUFFIX          backup before removel, override usual suffix

I've got the following questions. What's the format of DATE?
Please give me an example of usage -N option.
