I just recently tried to recompile my linux kernel (2.4.2)
with the most up todate version of ld (2.11.90.0.1) and I
am having a small error.
Well, small in the sense that it will not allow me to
compile my kernel.
for somereason the -oformat option is not being interpreted
properly. there are a few lines where -oformat binary is
used in compiling the kernel; however, ld crashes on these
lines with the error "cannot open binary : no such file or
directory". I have tried compiling the kernel with the
2.10.90 version of ld, and it compiles fine.
I am no Linux god, so if this error is because of the
kernel, please let me know so that I might pester them
instead.
And lastly, if there is some script workaround that I might
be made aware of, I would apperciate it.
Note: I have tried just removing the -oformat binary to see
what happens. That works for linking, but no matter what I
do, I cannot get the boot sector to be less that 1024 when
I do this.
