Thanks for taking a look at this, but it wasn't just Solaris. Any platform
that doesn't have the functions in libc was succeptible to this. I noticed
it on Tru64 UNIX and elsewhere.
I'm glad you've fixed it, though, and I hope the changes to the .m4 file
get propagated into the myriad packages that have a version of the macro
based on the buggy version.
