In some cases gnu tar in Solaris will output an error message:
Could not create file: Permission denied
This error message is quite missleading as file is indeed created ok.
This seems to happen iff:
- System is Solaris
- Filesystem is Solaris UFS
- File to be created has permission 0444 in archive
- Gnu tar is compiled in Solaris 2.6
It does not matter wheter p-option is given or not.
If you want to test this quite strange feature then try untarring a
mysql-3.23.39.tar.gz package in Solaris with gnu tar 1.13 that is
compiled in Solaris 2.6.
Tested on Solaris(sparc) versions 2.6 and 8.
Gnu tar version: 1.13
