abort in binutils-2.11.2

Hello.

I built binutils-2.11.2 hosted on i686-pc-linux-gnu (RedHat 6.2) targeting
ia64-unknown-linux-gnu.  The build went ok, but when I tried to run
objdump on /bin/ls that I copied off a ia64 linux machine (RedHat 7.1) it
got partway though the text segment and then died by calling abort() on
line 611 of ia64-opc.c.

Version 2.10.91 on that ia64 linux machine does not abort() when pointed
at the same binary.

Any suggestions?
