Problems installing binutils on Solaris

Hello,

I'm running Solaris 2.8 and having difficulties installing
binutils-2.11.2. Originally, I began installing another application
and ran into a problem with the assembler (similar to errors below). I
looked into the problem closely (as it seemed common) and I was told
by many that I should install binutils and use the GNU assembler
instead. Well, here I am trying to install binutils and I'm getting
the same type of error!  Am I doing something wrong or is there some
type of workaround for this problem that I don't know about?  Can
someone clear this up for me?  Any help is greatly appreciated!
