Ah, no wonder, I've been spoiled: man pr calls it

            -w PAGE_WIDTH, --width=PAGE_WIDTH
              set  page  width  to  PAGE_WIDTH (72) characters for multiple 
text-column
              output only

whilst man diff calls it

       -W columns
       --width=columns
              Use an output width of columns in side by side format.

You could also use the eye catching PAGE_WIDTH wording without
having to change more than the man/info page.
