The nios processor is not currently supported by the publically
available binutils sources. You are probably using a port of the
binutils sources to the nios specifically created by a software
company, and you really ought to contact them with details of this
problem.

Unfortunately this is really not enough information to track down the
problem. Questions that need to be answered are:
What version of readelf, gas and ld are you using ?
How were the object files and executable created ? ie what command
line options were used ? Was a custom made linker map used ? Are
handmade assembler sources involved ?
How do you know that the line info is not truncated ?

Another thing that would really help is a *small* reproducible test
case.
