Actually, it should probably read
\fB{ \fIstatements \fB}\fR
I happen to have quite a lot of experience with docbook. As to its
merits, I rather disagree, but this is clearly a religious issue, and
I won't debate you on it. You markup your documentation your way,
and I'll mark up mine in mine. :-)
