Question about gdbm-1.8.0 |

To Whom it may concern:
I am requesting help with the installation of gdbm version 1.8.0 on AIX
4.3.3
I need it as a prerequesite for OpenLDAP.
login as root and .....
Anyway i type "./configure" and that goes well. then i type " make" and that
goes well. Next i type " make install"
and i get an error when it trys to perform the following statement: install
-c libgdbm.la /usr/local/lib/libgdbm.la
it tells me the directory does not exist. Is there a bug in the Makefile? I
looked at it and found where the crash occurs in the makefile, but i don't
understand why it would crash, other than it is trying to create a directory
and file with the same name which unix does not like. ANY help would be
greatly appreciated.
thanx in advance
