You might want to add a timeout option to the su command.
For instance, in my .xsession file I have
(konsole -bg hotpink4 -e su)&
which creates a window with
Password:
just sitting there for hours, until I get around to wanting to use it
(whereupon I enter the passwd). However, this got me thinking, there
may be some situations where one doesn't want a forgotten window with
a Password: prompt just sitting there for hours and hours...
On the other hand, if su has survived for 30 years without a timeout
feature, that means that that need has already been met in say, getty
or login or something, so never mind.
Hmmm, TMOUT in bash won't kill a forgotten root window with a less(1)
running... wait: just do standard xlock stuff, so "double never mind".
