I think the grep man page needs a note in this paragraph

       -q, --quiet, --silent
              Quiet;  suppress  normal output.  The scanning will
              stop on the first match.  Also see the -s or  --no-
              messages option below.

that the user's goal is to just analyze the return code.  Sure it
might have been mentioned elsewhere, nut also mention it here.  I
didn't check the Info page.
