Assertion fail in bfd/elf32-arm.h

Hi,

When compiling glibc-2.2.5 for arm-linux I get the following error:
BFD 2.12 assertion fail ../../binutils-2.12/bfd/elf32-arm.h:1596

ld does not seem to return error when failing assertions since make
continues to compile glibc and subsequently fails when linking iconv,
uable to find symbols read_encoded_value_with_base and
size_of_encoded_value.

I'm using bintuils-2.12 and gcc-3.1 configured as crosscompiler for
arm-linux on i686 linux (Slackware 8).

Any hints would be appreciated.
