Hello,
on my system I've set TAR_OPTIONS to '--no-same-permissions'. When
this variable is set, the simple command line:
tar xzf foo.tar.gz
dumps core immediately. On the other hand, this slightly different command line
works:
tar xvzf foo.tar.gz
I could provide more information if the solution is not obvious.
