I'm afraid that kernel 2.4.7 cannot handle 2GB files.
Please make sure/upgrade and test that your Linux kernel is able
to handle files > 2GB.

Perhaps it's easier to split the files so that they aren't so big.

Or you could try newer version or another distribution.
If you have fast internet connection and would like to try FTP
install of SuSE, feel free to ask me about details.
