trying to understand what I am doing wrong |

Let me preface this with first what I am tring to do.
1.) I downloaded the email-valid 0.13 zip file from cpan (if I remember
correctly as I have looked so many places for this) along with email-valid
0.14 (latest version)
2.) unzipped the file
3.) copied the extracted files to the server that I want to install the perl
module on
4.) read the readme file for the perl module
5.) ran the perl makefile.pl as instructed
6.) then I went to do the next steps which are as follows
make
make test
make install
7.) this is where I am running into issues.
I have downloaded the make help files and am reading up on that and from
reading that I am even trying make -f makefile, but even doing that I get
the same error
makefile:642: *** missing separator. Stop.
Where am I getting the error from - Make or from the makefile that I am
running make against? I am somewhat new to this, so please bear with me as
I am trying to get this on my own, but am becoming frustrated not knowing
what is causing the error. Please help as I am running out of resources to
try.
Thanks
