Feature suggestion for the GNU Tar

there should be an option, which converts hard links to symbolic links,
when untaring, something like

--convert-hardlinks

The reason for this is, that there are filesystems, e.g. AFS, which do not
support hardlinks completely. When untaring an archive with hardlinks in
AFS, the untared directory is not usable.

Since AFS supports Hardlinks, when they occur in the same directory, an
optional option for --convert-hardlinks like
--convert-hardlinks-across-directories would be ideal.
