you can ignore the problem, it's bug in the testsuite, not in the grep
itself.

Or, you can try grep-2.5.1 which has just been available on
        ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/grep/

But this version also reports failed tests, if you compile it with one
of the newest version of GNU libc.

The safest method is currently to use grep-2.5.1 and
./configure --with-included-regex
