compiling errors

For the last few revisions of Binutils I continue to get error messages as I 
attempt to compile the source code.  The error messages occur during the make 
process and read as follows:

        configure.in:2092:error: possible undefined macro: AS_FOR_TARGET
        make: *** [configure] Error 1

After the make command halts I usually attempt it again and after some 
processing I get the next error:

        configure:error:libtool configure failed
        make:***[configure-opcodes] Error 1

Does anyone have any suggestions?
