Hi,
I've looked through the archives and I've seen references to the problem I'm
having, but I'm not seeing how to fix it. The problem is on Redhat 7.3,
when I try to copy any file to /dev/nst0. I get the following results
dd: writing `/dev/nst0': Invalid argument
0+221 records in
0+220 records out
The command was dd if=flexman597.pdf of=/dev/nst0 bs=32k. I have tried
different block sizes with no luck.
I can use tar and that works just fine to /dev/nst0. The tape is a 4 mm DAT
drive. The mt command appear to work ok, so I believe that the tape drive
is fine.
Eventually I want to use a specialized backup program on some 2.8GB files,
sending that to gzip and then to tape. The first two steps work great, the
DD part is killing me.
fileutils is installed at 4.1-10
