Dear GNU,I would like to make a remark regarding the operation of gnu-tar. In case the user misses out the archive's name right after the tar [flags] command and proceeds with the files to be archived, the first of these files is overwritten! That means that the user will loose unrecoverably this file. Can you include some kind of a warning, just in the case where the name of the archive happens to be an already existent file? This would save many users data, I think.
Many regards. -- //------------------\\ |Aristeidis Noutsos| |PhD Student | |Depart. of Physics| |Univers. of Durham| \\------------------//
