Unfortunately that was back in the good old days, before full i18n
support was added to GNU grep and before GNU grep started using the
new (much slower) regexp implementation in glibc.  Nobody has had
time to fix this

I agree that the marketing language should get toned down in the web
pages.  Can the grep maintainers please address this issue?  Thanks.
