It looks pretty much like a standard GNU distribution to me.
address@hidden is, really, a GNU address, although I
realize that only old-timers would recognize it as such.

Anyway, the biggest problem is of course that it's been a decade since
the last release.  I wrote to Andrew again yesterday; no reply yet.

    I use it in an emacs *shell* window over ssh, 

I do this all the time too.  Thank goodness for Emacs!
