grep: grep -D skip on fifo/pipe malfunction in 2.5.1, 2.5.1a

Hello,

playing with installation of Linux ICQ, I have found the following:

$ pwd
/home/martin/.licq
$ ls -l licq_fifo
prw-------  1 martin users 0 Nov 24 17:15 licq_fifo
$ grep -D skip pattern licq_fifo

does not skip as suggested. Using --devices=skip leads to the same
behaviour. Used versions were 2.5.1 and 2.5.1a.
