Sounds like we're taking an axe to all those old hosts, huh?

Not that it matters much -- I don't use DOS -- but I agree with Bruno
here.  We shouldn't waste our collective brain cells on 8.3
limitations any more.  These days there are too many more important
things to waste them on.

I would think that people who want to maintain for older hosts can
fairly easily build automated translation tools of some sort to do the
job.  Or at least semiautomated tools.
