"Recent"? We've been ignoring this part of the GNU Coding Standards
since October 2002 (while RMS ignores our majority opinion).

Thanks, I've applied a patch equivalent to yours, and also similarly changed
5 other files in GNU gettext.

Note that this is only a first step; the second step, to modify some variables
to actually use @datarootdir@, can obviously only occur after autoconf-2.60
is released.
