Hi John,
4.5.2 fixes this problem and is available on alpha.gnu.org,
but there's no fix there for the "compress-link" issue.
I profess more ignorance than I really have vis a vis autotools.
I suppose it would be useful to search through all the Makefile.am
files looking for usage of the installation directory macros?
