bad luck. The 2.3 branch was forked on Dec 20, 2004, and the bug you mention was fixed on Jan 14, 2005. But Paul Eggert has made some changes to these files recently, which were not yet merged into the glibc CVS. So I suggest that you get the files from gnulib CVS on savannah.
