There is no reason to do so, on glibc systems. Only the ELF interpreter
/lib/ld*.so needs to be "chmod a+x" (because it's simultaneously a shared
library and an executable).

bug-gnu-gettext is a mail alias that forwards to bug-gnu-utils in particular.
If you want to subscribe, subscribe to bug-gnu-utils.
