xml output for diff

Hi folks,
I made some changes to the 2.8.1 diffutils, and I'd like to
contribute them, if those changes are of public interest.
I am not sure if this email list is the appropriate place to send this
mail, so please let me know a better one in that case.
I've attached a version of the XML output without functions (test.xml);
in changes_func.xml, functions are also grouped in a new level of XML
when -p is provided, so browsing hierarchy is like this:
        patch
                files
                        functions
                                changes

Having the ability to generate XML allows easier integration with other
tools, and an additional patch navigation (with any XML tree browser).
Please let me know, if this results of interest, how to proceed with the
source code review and integration.

I'm now working on adding to diff the ability to load a plugin (with an
option, specifying a .so name) so a plugin can provide:
        - alternate output format (including XML, reporting, etc)
        - parsing aid
                - for example, for determining function headers for
different programming languages
                - specifying ignoring rules
                - specifying whitespace rules

Thanks!
        Daniel.
