It already has such an option. I didn't know I would need it.

I would be happy if --quiet were the default operation. I personally
like the Thompson school of programming and think that most programs
are too chatty anyway. :-)
Most programs aren't chatty enough. :) User entertainment
is important. It convinces your users that the program has
not gotten lost. That means that there ought to be output
every few seconds. Some programs produce more than that.
I don't care for that, but it's easier to discard output
than seeing stuff that isn't there. :)
