I noticed that help2man (in my case, 1.36) treats any line that starts with "/" as a pattern line. Would it be possible to be a bit stricter? This confused me when trying to work out why a line I wanted to add to the FILES section of a man page (and hence started with a / as it was an absolute path) was not being added. I worked around the problem by putting "\fR" at the start of the line (in that position, a no-op).

Perhaps a line could be detected as a pattern only if it also ends in a / ?

You might also want to consider allowing arbitrary delimiters, but I'm not sure if that would be helpful or merely increase the potential for confusion.
