Ah, but cmp 2.8.1 (from 2002) is still the current version shipped in at
least Fedora 14. I guess part of the problem is that diffutils 3.0
(released in May this year) hasn't propagated yet to all the distros, in
part because of the 6 year gap between the releases of 2.8.7 and 2.9.
